CVE-2022-35880Public exploit

Memory corruption via NewInternalClient format string

Published Oct 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025

Format string injection in iota All-In-One Security Kit 6.9X and 6.9Z allows remote attackers to corrupt memory via UPnP responses. The DoUpdateUPnPbyService handler inserts the NewInternalClient XML value into a log message, then passes that message as the format argument to log rather than as data. Exploitation requires an attacker on the adjacent network to answer M-SEARCH traffic and sustain a malicious UPnP negotiation; it can alter memory or crash the hub, while disclosure output requires physical UART access.
