Memory corruption via untrusted UPnP log format
Published Oct 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Format string injection in Abode Systems, Inc. iota All-In-One Security Kit 6.9X and 6.9Z allows attackers to corrupt memory via UPnP. The DoEnumUPnPService handler embeds ST and Location values from M-SEARCH replies in a log message, then passes that message as the format argument to vsnprintf. An attacker on the adjacent network must answer the hub's discovery broadcast; exploitation can disclose stack data or modify memory, while the denial-of-service mode is undisclosed.
