Unauthenticated database access via hard-coded administrator password
Published Aug 3, 2022 · Updated Nov 20, 2024
Authentication bypass in Vinchin Backup & Recovery 6.5.0.17561 allows remote attackers to access its MySQL administrator account. The bundled MySQL server configuration assigns the same hard-coded password to the administrator user, so supplied credentials are accepted instead of installation-specific secrets. Network reachability to the MySQL service is sufficient; successful access grants administrator-level control over the product database.
