Spreadsheet formula execution via unneutralized CSV fields
Published Nov 14, 2022 · Updated Apr 30, 2025
CSV injection in WPForms Pro before 1.7.7 allows remote attackers to plant formulas in exported form-entry files. The CSV exporter writes submitted field values without neutralizing formula-leading characters, so a spreadsheet interprets values such as =5+5 as formulas. Exploitation requires an attacker-controlled form submission and an administrator to export and open the CSV in a formula-processing spreadsheet.
