JavaScript execution via unfiltered wiki diff parameters
Published Jan 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Cross-site scripting in the wiki changes page of GitLab CE/EE allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary JavaScript. The params_with_whitespace helper forwards unfiltered request query parameters to url_for, allowing protocol and host values to turn the whitespace-toggle link into a javascript URL. Exploitation requires a victim to click that link on a self-hosted instance without strict CSP; the script then runs in the victim's GitLab session.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
