CVE-2022-3570Public exploit

Application crash via tiffcrop heap buffer overflows

Published Oct 21, 2022 · Updated May 7, 2025

Heap buffer overflows in LibTIFF tiffcrop 3.9.0 through 4.4.0 allow local users to crash the utility with a crafted TIFF file. The rotateContigSamples24bits and extractContigSamples32bits paths read past undersized heap buffers while rotating or sectioning image data. Local processing of the crafted file is required; demonstrated consequences are out-of-bounds reads and a tiffcrop crash, while the CNA also reports potential disclosure.
