Unauthenticated command execution via environment variable injection
Published Aug 3, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in D-Link DIR-818LW A1 firmware 1.05B01 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through ssdpcgi. The ssdpcgi_main function reads attacker-controlled environment variables, builds a shell command with sprintf, and passes it to system without neutralizing shell metacharacters. The interface requires no authentication or user interaction, and injected commands can take full control of the router.
