Script execution via case-sensitive charset handling
Published Aug 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Fork CMS before 5.11.0 allows remote authenticated users to inject JavaScript through the end_date parameter. The application passes its configured charset to the Spoon library without normalizing it to lowercase, causing Spoon's XSS protections to fail when the charset contains uppercase letters. Exploitation requires high-privilege access and a victim to render the crafted output, enabling script execution in the victim's browser.
