Stored XSS via unnormalized charset configuration
Published Aug 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Fork CMS before 5.11.0 allows remote authenticated users to inject JavaScript through the start_date parameter. app/Kernel.php passed the configured charset to Spoon::setCharset without lowercasing it, contrary to SpoonLibrary's expectations and causing some XSS protections to fail. Exploitation requires high-privilege access and user interaction, and successful injection executes script in another user's browser context.
