Stored XSS via filename upload
Published Jul 20, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Blogifier v3.0 allows remote authenticated users to store script content through the /api/storage/upload/PostImage filename. The endpoint accepts attacker-controlled filename text and stores it with an uploaded image; when an administrator publishes and views the post, the text is rendered as HTML and executes script in the browser. Administrative authentication and post publication are required, and the demonstrated consequence is stored cross-site scripting affecting viewers.
