Crash via immutable Applications-menu array mutation
Published Oct 17, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Denial of service in XQuartz in X.Org Server allows local users to crash the server by editing the Applications menu. X11Controller retains preference-backed application entries without mutable copies, then its table-editing path mutates those immutable arrays. A logged-in macOS user must use the Applications menu editor; the resulting exception terminates XQuartz without affecting confidentiality or integrity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
