Authenticated command execution via unfiltered WAN parameters
Published Aug 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Command injection in five WAVLINK AC1200 router models allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through the WAN settings page. The adm.cgi handler accepts ppp_username, ppp_passwd, rwan_gateway, rwan_mask, and rwan_ip values from /wan.shtml without filtering shell metacharacters. Access requires a valid management login, after which a semicolon-delimited value executes attacker-chosen commands on WN572HP3, WN533A8, WN530H4, WN535G3, and WN531P3 devices.
