Utility crash via crafted font file
Published Aug 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in otfccdump in OTFCC 0.10.4 allows context-dependent attackers to crash the utility via a crafted font file. At the reported otfccdump binary offset, malformed font input causes a read from an invalid address and terminates the process with a segmentation violation. Exploitation requires a user or workflow to process the attacker-supplied font; the demonstrated consequence is a single utility-process crash, not code execution.
