CVE-2022-35413Known exploitationNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated sensitive-data access via hardcoded API credentials

Published Sep 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Hard-coded credentials in Penta Security WAPPLES 4.0.54.1 through 6.0 allow remote attackers to read configuration and sensitive data. The unmodifiable systemi account is stored in CouchDB for system scripts, and its fixed credentials authenticate HTTPS requests to the /webapi/ management endpoint. Network access to the management interface on port 443 or 5001 is sufficient to retrieve configuration secrets, including SSL keys and stored SMTP credentials.
