SYSTEM privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Sep 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unquoted service path handling in SAP Business One 10.0 allows local users to execute code with SYSTEM privileges when a service starts. A service is created with a space-containing executable path that is not enclosed in quotation marks, allowing Windows to resolve an attacker-controlled executable earlier in the path. Exploitation requires local access, write access to a searched path location, and a service start; successful execution grants SYSTEM control.
