Room-role disclosure via missing ACL check
Published Sep 23, 2022 · Updated May 22, 2025
Information disclosure in Rocket.Chat before 4.7.5, 4.8.2, and 5.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to list privileged room members. The getRoomRoles Meteor method returns members assigned special channel roles without first checking whether the requesting account can access the room. Any logged-in account with a room identifier can expose the membership and elevated role assignments of a channel it cannot otherwise access.
