Stack-based buffer overflow in Chunghwa Telecom HiCOS client builds allows physically proximate attackers to execute arbitrary code. While reading smart-card information, the client component processes a parameter without first validating its length, overflowing a stack buffer. Physical access and no prior privileges are required; successful exploitation permits arbitrary code or system-command execution, or a service interruption.
