Code execution via unchecked packet header length
Published Aug 2, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in NHI Health Insurance Web Service Component on Windows allows local users to execute arbitrary code. The web-service packet handler fails to validate the network packet header length, so an oversized header causes a stack-based out-of-bounds write. Exploitation requires general user privileges and local-area-network access; successful attacks can run system commands or interrupt the service.
