CVE-2022-35165Public exploit

Memory-exhaustion abort via unbounded entry loop

Published Aug 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Denial of service in Bento4 1.6.0-639 allows local users to exhaust process memory by opening a crafted MP4 file. AP4_SgpdAtom trusts the file-controlled entry_count, repeatedly allocates payload buffers, and ignores failed stream reads after input ends. The demonstrated mp42aac path requires processing the crafted file and aborts after exhausting process memory.
