Remote command execution via unescaped fax arguments
Published Aug 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Command injection in FusionPBX 5.0.1 allows remote attackers to execute operating-system commands through the fax submission interface. The fax_send.php code concatenates fax filenames and dial-string fields into commands passed to exec() without shell-argument escaping. A crafted value reaching the fax-sending workflow therefore runs commands with the privileges of the FusionPBX service account.
