Stored XSS via unescaped page content
Published Aug 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Raneto 0.17.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in visitors' browsers. The page-edit route writes administrator-supplied Markdown containing raw HTML without escaping it, so rendered pages pass embedded script to the browser. Administrator access is required to store the payload, and a visitor must open the crafted page; the script then runs in that visitor's origin.
