Credential disclosure via unauthenticated configuration endpoints
Published Aug 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authentication in Ecowitt GW1100 firmware 2.1.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to read stored device and local WiFi passwords. The embedded web server exposes /get_network_info and /get_ws_settings without validating a session, returning WiFi credentials, device passwords, and weather-service API keys. Network reachability to the gateway is sufficient; the demonstrated consequence is disclosure of stored credentials and API keys without login.
