Crash via invalid TrueType font pointer
Published Sep 23, 2022 · Updated May 22, 2025
Invalid memory access in SWFTools commit 772e55a2 allows local users to crash pdf2swf by processing a crafted PDF file. Embedded TrueType font handling reaches FoFiTrueType::writeTTF, which dereferences an invalid pointer while rewriting font data. A user must cause pdf2swf to open the file; the demonstrated effect is process termination, with no reported data disclosure or modification.
