CVE-2022-35091Public exploit

Local converter crash via PDF image decoding

Published Sep 23, 2022 · Updated May 22, 2025

Denial of service in SWFTools pdf2swf commit 772e55a2 allows local users to crash the converter by processing a crafted PDF file. At xpdf/Stream.cc line 2123, DCTStream::readMCURow reaches an invalid arithmetic operation while decoding an image MCU row; public records do not disclose the faulty comparison. Triggering the flaw requires a user to run pdf2swf on attacker-supplied content, and the documented consequence is converter termination and lost availability.
