Process crash via heap buffer overflow
Published Sep 19, 2022 · Updated May 29, 2025
Heap buffer overflow in OTFCC commit 617837b allows attackers to crash otfccdump by processing a crafted OpenType font file. Public records identify the failure only by the otfccdump executable offset 0x6e41b8 and do not disclose the parser routine or unchecked write that corrupts heap memory. Exploitation requires a user to supply the crafted font to otfccdump, and the documented consequence is a process crash rather than data disclosure or modification.
