Process crash via crafted font heap overflow
Published Sep 19, 2022 · Updated May 29, 2025
Heap buffer overflow in OTFCC commit 617837b allows remote attackers to crash otfccdump by supplying a crafted OpenType font file. A memory-fill operation reached during font parsing writes past the end of a heap allocation, with AddressSanitizer reporting __asan_memset. Exploitation requires a victim to process the malicious font; the documented consequence is a process crash, with no reported data disclosure or modification.
