Crash via crafted OpenType font processing

Published Sep 19, 2022 · Updated May 29, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in OTFCC otfccdump commit 617837b allows attackers to crash the utility by supplying a crafted OpenType font. The public record identifies the fault only by release-x64 binary offset 0x6e41a8 and does not disclose the parser function or malformed font field that causes the heap write. A user must cause otfccdump to process the crafted font; the documented consequence is a crash, with no reported data disclosure or code execution.
