Process crash via out-of-bounds write
Published Sep 22, 2022 · Updated May 27, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in OTFCC otfccdump commit 617837b allows context-dependent attackers to crash the process with a crafted OpenType font. Published evidence locates the fault at offset 0x6babea in the release-x64 otfccdump binary but does not identify the parsing function or malformed font field that triggers the invalid write. Exploitation requires a user to process attacker-supplied input; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash, with no published evidence of code execution or data disclosure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
