Process crash via crafted font parsing
Published Sep 22, 2022 · Updated May 27, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in OTFCC commit 617837b allows context-dependent attackers to crash otfccdump by supplying a crafted OpenType font. The public record identifies a segmentation violation at offset 0x4fbbb6 but does not disclose the parser function or the unchecked write that reaches it. Exploitation requires a user or downstream workflow to process the file, and the demonstrated consequence is limited to an otfccdump process crash.
