Process crash via unchecked MNG frame coordinates
Published Aug 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Heap buffer overflow in AdvanceCOMP 2.3 allows remote attackers to crash the utility by inducing a user to open a crafted MNG file. The MNG reader accepts negative or out-of-frame coordinates from DEFI and MOVE chunks, then processes frame data without validating those bounds. Exploitation requires user interaction with an attacker-supplied file and interrupts only the affected process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
