Root code execution via symbolic-link race
Published Jul 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Privilege escalation in Parallels Access Agent 6.5.4 (39316) allows local users to execute arbitrary code as root. A time-of-check/time-of-use race in the Parallels service lets an attacker-created symbolic link redirect the file that the service executes. Exploitation requires low-privileged code execution on the host and grants full root-context code execution.
