Hypervisor code execution via ACPI out-of-bounds read
Published Jul 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
An out-of-bounds read in the ACPI virtual device of Parallels Desktop 17.1.1 (51537) allows local users to execute code in the hypervisor. The device fails to validate guest-supplied data before reading past the end of an allocated buffer. Exploitation requires high-privileged code execution in a guest and crosses the virtual-machine boundary into the hypervisor.
