Unauthenticated administrator takeover via serial-number password reset
Published Dec 12, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Weak password recovery in ifm moneo appliance 1.9.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to take administrator control. The reset workflow accepts the appliance serial number, exposed in the default self-signed certificate, as sufficient proof to replace the administrator password. No authentication or user interaction is required; network access to the reset interface enables full control of the appliance.
