Arbitrary code execution via path traversal
Published Nov 8, 2022 · Updated May 2, 2025
Path traversal in NEC EXPRESSCLUSTER X 5.0 and earlier for Windows allows remote attackers to overwrite files via a crafted packet. A specific EXPRESSCLUSTER process accepts a crafted internal-protocol packet and fails to confine the supplied path before writing. Unauthenticated network access to the service is sufficient to replace existing files, enabling arbitrary code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
