Credential disclosure via plaintext configuration storage
Published Jun 30, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Plaintext password storage in RocketChat Notifier Plugin 1.5.2 and earlier allows local users to read credentials via Jenkins controller files. The plugin writes the login password and webhook token unencrypted to RocketChatNotifier.xml in the controller's global configuration. Access requires filesystem visibility on the Jenkins controller, and the consequence is disclosure of those stored secrets without demonstrated integrity or availability impact.
