CVE-2022-34765Network attack vector

Unauthorized firmware loading via attacker-controlled file path

Published Jul 13, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

External file-path control in Schneider Electric Modicon communication modules allows remote authenticated users to load unauthorized firmware. The firmware-image handler writes user-controlled data to a file path that the device later accepts for loading, without restricting it to an authorized image. Exploitation requires network access and privileged installer credentials; chained flaws can overwrite firmware, backdoor the module, or brick it permanently.
