SYSTEM code execution via partmgr.sys integer overflow
Published Aug 9, 2022 · Updated Jun 4, 2025
Integer overflow in Microsoft Windows Partition Management Driver allows local users to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges. partmgr.sys fails to validate user-supplied data before using an overflowing integer in a buffer allocation. Exploitation requires prior low-privileged code execution on the target and yields arbitrary code execution as SYSTEM.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
