CVE-2022-34671Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via unchecked D3D10 shader indices

Published Dec 30, 2022 · Updated Apr 11, 2025

Out-of-bounds writes in NVIDIA GPU Display Driver for Windows allow remote authenticated users to execute code through a crafted D3D10 shader. The user-mode D3D10 shader parser uses attacker-controlled indices from dcl_input, dcl_output, and dcl_resource_structured declarations to calculate memory addresses without bounds checks. An unprivileged user must supply a malformed shader; Cisco Talos also demonstrated the flaw crossing a Hyper-V RemoteFX guest boundary into rdvgm.exe on the host.
