Authenticated code execution via Jinja2 template export
Published Aug 2, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Template injection in Mealie 1.0.0beta3 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code via a crafted Jinja2 recipe template. The backup export path renders an uploaded recipe template with Jinja2 without neutralizing template expressions, exposing Python globals to template code. Administrative access to upload the template and export the backup is required, and successful exploitation runs commands in the server process context.
