Administrator-level stored XSS via unescaped settings
Published Nov 7, 2022 · Updated May 1, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in Highlight Focus 1.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through plugin settings. The plugin stores setting values without sanitizing them and renders them without output escaping, causing crafted values to become executable markup. Administrator-level access and a victim opening affected content are required; exposure remains when unfiltered_html is disabled, including on multisite deployments.
