Unauthenticated root access via unchecked ajaxmsg copy
Published Jul 20, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack overflow in H3C Magic R200 firmware R200V200R004L02 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted ajaxmsg value. The /AJAX/ajaxget handler copies attacker-controlled ajaxmsg bytes into a 132-byte stack array in a loop without enforcing the destination bound. The published proof of concept uses an unauthenticated POST request, and the researcher reports that exploitation yields a root shell.
