Unauthenticated code execution via unbounded INTF copy
Published Jul 20, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in H3C Magic R200 firmware R200V200R004L02 allows remote attackers to execute code via INTF in /dotrace.asp. The trace handler passes bytes between INTF= and the next ampersand to strncpy into a stack array without bounding the copy to that array. The published request reaches the HTTP endpoint without authentication; oversized input corrupts the stack, and the demonstrated consequence is a root shell.
