Cross-origin request acceptance via prefix comparison
Published Oct 13, 2022 · Updated May 15, 2025
Origin validation error in IKUS Software Rdiffweb before 2.5.0a5 allows remote attackers to submit cross-origin state-changing requests. The secure_headers.set_headers function trusts an Origin when its text merely starts with the application base URL, so an attacker-controlled hostname can pass the comparison. The request must use POST, PUT, PATCH, or DELETE; the permitted state change remains subject to the targeted endpoint's normal authorization checks.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
