Cross-site scripting via unchecked xlink href
Published Dec 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Mozilla Firefox before 102 allows remote attackers to execute script through sanitized SVG use elements. The nsTreeSanitizer::SanitizeAttributes function applies the fragment-only URL check to unnamespaced href but omits it for the xlink:href fallback. A victim must load attacker-influenced content processed with the HTML Sanitizer API, allowing script to read or alter data in that site's origin.
