User-assisted HSTS bypass via certificate-error override
Published Dec 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Improper certificate validation in Mozilla Firefox for Android before 102 allows remote attackers to bypass HSTS protections. GeckoView certificate-error handling presents an override for an HSTS-protected domain and accepts the user’s selection despite a failed TLS check. The user must explicitly select the override after the warning; exploitation permits access to a spoofed site, while desktop editions are unaffected.
