Script execution via incorrect sandbox flag source
Published Dec 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Sandbox bypass in Mozilla Firefox, Firefox ESR, and Thunderbird allows remote attackers to execute script in restricted iframes. OnLinkClickSync copies sandbox flags from the browsing context instead of the initiating document, so a retargeted javascript link loses the CSP script restriction. Exploitation requires a user click and a script-capable same-origin target; Thunderbird mail reading disables scripting.
