CVE-2022-34421

Code execution via unverified SMM communication buffer

Published Mar 16, 2023 · Updated Feb 26, 2025

Improper SMM buffer verification in Dell PowerEdge BIOS on 14G and 15G servers allows local users to execute code or interrupt service. The proprietary BIOS accepts an SMM communication buffer without adequate validation before privileged SMM code consumes its contents. High privileges and local access are required; exploitation can execute arbitrary code in the firmware context or interrupt the server.
