CVE-2022-34390

SMRAM code execution via uninitialized SMI variable

Published Oct 12, 2022 · Updated May 12, 2025

Use of an uninitialized variable in Dell Client Platform BIOS allows local users to execute arbitrary code in SMRAM through an SMI. The BIOS processes an SMI with an uninitialized variable, but Dell has not identified the variable, function, or exact operation that consumes its indeterminate value. The attack requires a high-privilege local user and yields code execution inside protected System Management Mode memory.
