Arbitrary SMM code execution via crafted SMI
Published Aug 31, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
OS command injection in Dell Edge Gateway 5200 before 1.03.10 allows local users to execute arbitrary code in SMM via a crafted SMI. The firmware processes an SMI in a way that bypasses PMC mitigation, but Dell has not disclosed the affected handler or missing validation. Local high-privilege access is required, and successful exploitation executes attacker-controlled code in the isolated SMM context.
