CVE-2022-3435Network attack vector

Kernel-memory disclosure via mismatched multipath route deletion

Published Oct 8, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025

An out-of-bounds read in Linux Kernel IPv4 routing allows remote authenticated users to expose kernel memory during route deletion. The fib_nh_match function treats a legacy multipath deletion specification as compatible with fib_info that instead references a separate nexthop object, then reads beyond the matching nexthop data. Reaching the flaw requires authenticated authority to delete an IPv4 route in that mismatched state; the bounded consequence is kernel-memory disclosure.
